We've just released a minor update to our WMatch 3.0 file-comparing and -syncing
utility. This version has many fixes and some new features, including:
- an error box that appears when errors occur in synchronizing or copying files
- the ability to compare subdirectories at the same time as root folders
- automatic setting of local file dates and times to source times when copies are made from FTP to local files
- "Delete files on target if source doesn't exist" option for synchronization.

This is a fabulous piece of software, an Optical document
reader that will turn your hand written notes and paper
documents into an electronic file. Within seconds your notes

without which you cannot do professional graphics. Paint.Net is
basically image and photo manipulation software designed to be

2. Replace-Em
A sophisticated and powerful string replacement utility for
Windows, this program which is essentially a text
Search-and-replace program that can operate on multiple files
at once. The program lets you set up a back up file in case the
replacements are not exactly what you want. You can do single
Operations, multiple operations, operations with filters, or
multiple branching operations. One very powerful feature offered
here is the destination file location system, which gives you a lot
of leeway. Another handy tool is regular expression search-replace
operations, as well as range search-replace operations. These are,
powerful and complex giving you a highly intelligent text

is generated to let you know if everything went as planned.

an attractive user-interface, it is feature-rich, and conforms

Vim is a highly configurable text editor built to enable
efficient text editing. It is an improved version of the vi
editor distributed with most UNIX systems. With a full range of
functions, this is a most useful tool, although learning is
required to use it efficiently. The procedures are so useful for
programming that one could consider it to be an entire IDE. Not
just for programmers, though, this is appropriate for all kinds
of text editing, from composing email to editing configuration
files. Currently runs under Amiga DOS, MS-DOS,
MS-Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP, Atari MiNT, Macintosh, BeOS,
VMS, RISC OS, OS/2 and almost all flavours of UNIX. Freeware or

This is an amazing and awesome site, featuring Astronomical and
Satellite Data. The site carries all the information you need
to observe satellites such as the International Space Station

other past satellite activities. A wealth of other spaceflight
and astronomical information, is beautifully presented on the
site. Incredible real time visuals of the constellations and
planetary systems are quite something to behold. The satellites
track through the heavens, and all the graphics of planetary
activity, constellations and so on are generated in real-time
and customized for specific locations, and time zones. This

1. MSN Messenger
We know this is already very well known but it is a glaring omission
from the Tudogs website so we thought we better give it a review.
Of all the free chat software applications MSN Messenger seems
to be the most widely used. Messenger will allow you to create
a connection with friends, family and other contacts as long as
they have a .NET Passport. You can then communicate with them
in real time. Script communication and downloadable pictures,
backgrounds and emotion icons are available for you to use in
your communication. This service is a must, if you want to
communicate in the now, without waiting for the lengthy
business of downloading your e- mails. Other communication
systems, such as messages to a cell phone, games, parental
controls for kids, and spam blockers are available on the site.

2. Fireworks
Here is a small application that demonstrates how to create a
real-time firework effect, and has the source code available
for developers. The application features realistic explosions
using fading and blurring, and is colorful and effective.

This is an amazing a color chart put together by Claude Bessete
who explores and lists colors and tones in and enormously broad
range. He points out that out of a range of 16,777,216 colors,
there are only 216 "Web safe" color codes [0.000013%]. These
codes offer a lot of color tones that are so similar you can't
distinguish one from another leaving you with really few
different colors. Other Color charts available on the Internet
organize the codes sequentially, or by RGB,but never by color.
Claude's chart contains hand-picked, hand-sorted colors with
their codes, creating a selection of tones over a very broad

ASCII, the American Standard Code for Information Interchange, is astandard seven-bit code finalised in 1968. For all versions of ASCIIcode the first 128 slots (0 to 127) are identical. The extended ASCII,codes 128 to 255, vary. A little known feature of Windows is that allthe ASCII symbols may be generated by holding down the Alt key andentering the ASCII number on the number pad. It must be on the numberpad, not on the number line above the typewriter keyboard. Thus, forexample, Alt+156 generates the £ symbol. Alt+157 the ¥, Alt+14 the ö,Alt+230 the µ. 1. Sobig.F Virus - Complete Removal Tool
W32.Sobig.F@mm is a mass-mailing, network-aware worm that sends itself
to all the email addresses it finds in files that have the following
extensions: .dbx .eml .hlp .htm .html .mht .wab .txt. The worm uses
its own SMTP engine to propagate and attempts to create a copy of
itself on accessible network shares, but fails due to bugs in the
code.

The email message has the following characteristics: From:
Spoofed address - which means that the sender in the From: field is
most likely not the real sender. The worm may also use the address
admin@internet.com as the sender. The spoofed addresses and the Send
To: addresses are both taken from the files found on the computer.
Also, the worm may use the infected computer's settings to check for
an SMTP server to contact. Proliferated emails have one of the
following as their subject: Re: Details, Re: Approved, Re: Re: My
details, Re: Thank you!, Re: That movie, Re: Wicked screensaver, Re:
Your application, Thank you!, Your details.

Sobig.f copies itself as %Windir%\winppr32.exe. %Windir% is a
variable. The worm locates the Windows installation folder - by
default, this is C:\Windows or C:\Winnt - and copies itself to that
location. It creates the file, %Windir%\winstt32.dat., adds the value:
TrayX=%Windir%\winppr32.exe /sinc to the registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run so
that the worm runs when you start Windows. It adds the value:
TrayX=%Windir%\winppr32.exe /sinc to the registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run so
that the worm runs when you start Windows. It enumerates any network
shares to which the infected computer has write access. It uses
standard Windows APIs to do this.

Sobig.F can download arbitrary files to an infected computer and
execute them. The author of the worm has used this functionality to
steal confidential system information and to set up spam relay servers
on infected computers.

The worm is set to expire on September 10th., and should be over
thereafter. In the meantime, even if your regular anti-virus software
has removed discovered virus files, one should run this tool as an
